It works, but I was so afraid of hitting a bump and messing it up that I left the template as my default page in LibreOffice during the court case. Ultimately, I don’t know how I did it, but, step by step, I created a usable template that I would have to use one page at a time. That led me it Inkscape, but the learning curve and jargon are so dense that I couldn’t use it. That led me to trying to use an SVG font for the line numbers, but LibreOffice would always render the SVG font blurred when I tried to create a. So, I tried to create the left and right margins as pictures and anchor them to the page. Using LibreOffice, I tried to confine the cursor to the writing area, but it was very buggy and virtually unusable. To be usable, the cursor cannot go into the left and right margin areas, i.e., the cursor must stay in the writing area. The right margin is separated from the writing area with one vertical line. Basically, the left margin is a vertical column of double-spaced line numbers that is separated from the writing area by two vertical lines (the lines are close together, one slightly wider than the other). It was incredibly difficult to create something usable in LibreOffice, and even then it is still difficult to use. I wanted to create line-numbered legal pleading paper for an actual court case where I helped a family member defend himself in a consumer breach-of-contract case (I have an AAS-Legal Assistant degree, with honors, and I have over 15 years of pro-se litigation experience in civil-rights actions).
